Care And Handling

Use an old toothbrush and mild soap to clean the sweatband.

Focus where most sweat gathers in the front. Brush in a small circlular pattern to lift the sweat away. Next with clean water use the same toothbrush motion to remove the soap residue.

- To clean the lining you can fill the inside with clean water and mild soap and swish it around by hand. Empty the hat and refill with clean water to remove the soap residue.

* Mold tends to grow where your sweat settles. It’s important to remove the sweat and your oils to prevent any mold growth.

* Moths are also attracted to human sweat and are more likely to settle on your favorite hat than the one you rarely wear.

Use a clean cloth and water and wipe away any stains or dust that settles on the surface. Do not wash your waxed cotton hat or the finish will be removed and not be water resistant. But if you do wash your hat I can retreat it with the special Martexin wax. The finish wears off over time so I recommend getting it retreated after about a year.

Reshape it by pushing out the crown and flatting out th brim. Place the hat on a bowl to lift it up so that the air can circulate around it. It’s also a good idea to place it in front of a fan to speed up the drying time.

If you have any questions please contact me at I can also clean and refurbish your hat for you for a small fee. This is especially good to do at the end of the season so when you reach for it its ready to go.
